Brother Robert C. Ainsley Sr. Cortland Lodge #529

Mecca – Raymond C. Ainsley Sr., 76, passed away Monday afternoon, surrounded by his loving family, November 17, 2025 at his residence.

Raymond was born on September 3, 1949 in Warren, OH, a son of the late Robert and Mary Lou Ainsley.

He was a graduate of Lakeview High School and was a proud Vietnam veteran of the United States Army. During his service he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 1960 Device, Combat Infantryman Badge, Commendation Medal, and a Purple Heart.

He continued his education at Kent State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.

He retired from Packard Electric in 1999 after 30 years of service.

He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Amvets, Ali Baba Grotto, and was a Mason at the Cortland Masonic Lodge. He had the biggest heart and would help anyone in need. He had a big sense of humor and always had jokes to tell. He loved being with his large family and friends, especially his children and grandchildren.

Raymond will be deeply missed by his wife, Linda Hinkle; children, Raymond (Kyla) Ainsley Jr., Jeffrey Ainsley, and Melissa (Kyle) Thomas; grandchildren, Taylor (Mike) Shay, Hunter, Gavin, and Jeremy Ainsley, and Connor and Carson Thomas; great-grandchild, Hayden Shay; and siblings, Bruce (Connie) Ainsley, Mark (Rachel) Ainsley, Greg (Judene) Ainsley, Joan Clark, and Marilyn Hardin.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Jeremy Ainsley; brother Bob Ainsley; and sister Linda Morgan.

A celebration of life will be held, for all who knew him, on Saturday December 13, 2025 from 3-7:00PM at the Cortland Moose Lodge #1012, located at 6400 OH-46 in Cortland.

Arrangements were entrusted with Lane Funeral Homes Shafer-Winans Chapel in Cortland.
