25th Masonic District presents 2019 Awards
The 25th Masonic District Blue Lodge Association, consisting of 24 Masonic Lodges in Trumbull, Ashtabula, Geauga, Portage, and Lake counties, held their annual 2019 Awards Night on September 25th. The meeting was conducted by president John Van Meter III, and the award presentations were made by vice-president Clint Kingston. The 25th District Awards are intended to recognize individual Masons and Lodges who have exemplified exceptional service to Masonry and to their community.
Cortland Lodge #529, located in Cortland, Ohio, was well recognized with several awards. Richard McClain, was awarded Mason of the Year for the 25th District for his contributions and achievements in the betterment of his community and for the projection of Masonic principles in his personal and professional life. Terry Swauger, was awarded the Iron Man Award for attending all 24 lodge inspections and the Grand Masters Reception. Frank Daugherty was awarded Best Lecturer in the Fellow Craft degree. And Daniel Shaffer received a special retirement award and was recognized for his outstanding service as the District Education Officer. Cortland also received awards for best attendance at the district meetings and for traveling to visit all of the other lodges of the 25th District.
Other Masons and Lodges of the 25th District who were recognized include Charles Dahmer of Lakeshore Lodge #307 who received the Best Lecturer in the Entered Apprentice degree, and Chris Matty of Western Reserve Lodge #507 who received the Best Lecturer in the Master Mason degree. Rockton Lodge #316 and Evergreen Lodge #222 received their Traveling Awards for the previous year. Jeffery Lock of Newton Falls Lodge #462 and Robert Thomas of Village Lodge #274 also received retirement awards for their exceptional service as District Deputy Grand Masters.
