Brother Roy D. Hensley Cortland Lodge #529

Roy Dale Hensley, 88, of Greene Township passed away May 19, 2026. Born September 17, 1937, in Portsmouth, Ohio he was the son of Opal (Boggs) Hensley and David Hensley. Dale was also raised by his grandparents Amelia "Ma" Boggs and Henry Boggs.

Dale proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. He dedicated 42 years of hard work to Copperweld Steel Co. as a crane operator and a millwright. Dale was a 58-year member of the Warren/Cortland Masonic Lodge, and earned the title of Master Mason. He loved anything outdoors, including hunting, fishing and gardening. Dale was especially proud of the watermelons that he grew. He also enjoyed going to local auctions and collecting his " treasures" as he called them.

Dale is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Darla (Myers) Hensley and two sons, Ryan Dale (Jeannie) Hensley and Kyle Cole (Marie) Hensley. Along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Velma Panak.

Funeral services will be held at 12PM on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Central Christian Church (2051 East Market Street Warren, OH 44483). Visitation will take place from 10AM until service time at the Church. Carl W. Hall Funeral Home has been entrusted with Dale's arrangements.

Dale will be missed by all who knew him. The family requests that in lieu of flowers any donations be made to either, Central Christian Church or Healthy Hearts & Paws of Warren Ohio.

Brother Earl R. Gowdy Cortland Lodge #529

Fowler – Earl R. Gowdy, 68, unexpectedly passed away Saturday afternoon, May 30, 2026 at his home.

Earl was born on August 28, 1957 in Warren, OH, a son of the late Earl and Betty (Burgermyer) Gowdy.

He was a life-long resident of Fowler, graduating from Mathews High School with the class of 1976 and a proud Eagle Scout. He worked at General Motors in Lordstown for 31 years until his retirement on July 30, 2008. He also was a dedicated farmer who prided himself of all his accomplishments, was a field inspector for Trumbull County through the US. Department of Agriculture and a loss adjuster, where he traveled all over Ohio for USDA. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and hunting; especially deer. He was a member of the Cortland Masonic Lodge #529.

Earl will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Elaine (Sheroskey) Gowdy, whom he married on October 22, 1983; daughter, Rachelle (Anthony) Palac of Vienna; son, Jared Earl (Kaitlin) Gowdy of Fowler; grandchildren that were his pride and joy, Lillyanna, Miranda, and Cody Palac; sisters, Cheryl (Jim) Ward of Lyndhurst, Barbara (Tom) Carr of Fowler, and Nanette (David) Leidich of Fowler; and his loyal dog Ellie, who rarely left his side. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Gowdy.

Family and friends may visit from 6-8:00PM on Wednesday June 3, 2026 at Lane Funeral Homes Shafer-Winans Chapel, located at 164 N. High St. in Cortland. Additional visitation will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026 from 10-11:00AM. A Masonic Service will begin at 11:00AM with the funeral service to follow.

Burial will take place at Dugan Cemetery in Fowler Township.
